Target Summer Pops with Symphony Silicon Valley

A free summer music festival, sponsored by Target.  All performances held on the grassy mall at San Jose State University. Enter at 4th and West San Carlos Streets, parking is next to the mall.  Bring your chair, food and a great attitude and enjoy the music of summer.  

Classics With Attitude

Maestro Peter Jaffe returns to open our Festival with a mix of light classics from Tchaikovsky, Offenbach, and other well-loved composers.  We include favorites like the delightfully eerie "Night on Bald Mountain;" "Carmen Fantasy," a work for virtuoso violin based on the world's most popular opera;  the rhythmic "Bolero;" and the sweeping and supremely picturesque "The Moldau."  Conductor:  Peter Jaffe

Family Adventure Concert Ice Cream Night!

Noche Caliente: Target Latin Night

Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca bring hot Latin dance rhythms and smooth world music beats to a special evening of Latin music.  Their blending of Congolese soukous and rumba with Cuban salsa makes for an electric ritmo caliente! Special guests, pyrotechnic San Jose Taiko, open the concert for a true evening of World Music.

Big Band Dance Hits

This summer, "Your Hit Parade" brings back the swinging sounds of the 30's, 40's & 50's Big Band hits, with special emphasis on the dance music of the era!   This evening will have your feet moving and your heart soaring to the sound of  In the Mood, Puttin' on the Ritz, Begin the Beguine the sensual Anything Goes, the playful Ain't Misbehavin and some 20 other beloved tunes.

Pops conductor extraordinaire Michael Berkowitz brings a night of Hollywood glamour and classic themes from the movies to the green at San Jose State University.  Gone with the Wind, Dr. Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, James Bond --  they had us at the first few notes!  Savor free ice cream and the music from your favorite blockbusters.
