Disneyland Resort, Anaheim CA

Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure are adjacent to each other but charge separate admission. You can purchase admission tickets for either park or an admission package which includes both.  If you are unsure about which park best suits your vacation plans, click on the following links to view information about the attractions at either park: Disneyland Park is the first of Walt’s Disney theme parks.  The “Happiest Place on Earth” is located in Anaheim CA approximately 30 miles (1 hr driving time)  south of downtown Los Angeles and approximately 100 miles (2 hrs driving time) from San Diego. Nearby cities include Anaheim, Garden Grove, Fullerton, Irvine and Buena Park.

For those who have not visited Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park geographically the parks are ‘next door’ and the two parks share a common plaza.  In addition Downtown Disney is located in the immediate area between the parks, hotels and parking structures.

There are well over 30 attractions in between the two parks, plus shows, character meet and greets, dining and shopping.  Yes, even dining is an experience at the Blue Bayou Restaurant in New Orleans Square when your table faces the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.  And remember that when you visit the parks it is not just Disney but Disney, Disney, Jr., Pixar and Marvel, which means your day could include Thor, Captain America,  Buzz, Woody, Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First.  Or one of my personal favorites the Jedi Training Academy.  So if at all possible, give yourself at least 2 days for your visit.

Best Deals and Discounts on Admission to Disneyland

First, with the exception of being a Southern California resident, there are no real discounts on tickets to the parks themselves.  You may find a $5 or $10 discount (on the price of your entire ticket)  or possibly free parking included if you purchase your tickets through AAA.   If you are traveling to Southern California and expect to travel to Los Angeles and San Diego, then consider a Southern California City Pass which includes  a 3 day Park Hopper admission, Universal Studios Hollywood and SeaWorld San Diego with options to add the San Diego Zoo, San Diego Safari Park and Legoland California.

There some discounts when you bundle your hotel and tickets.

On the other hand you can however save yourself some money by initially purchasing the minimum ticket you think you need and  upgrading the ticket at the park as your vacation progresses.

For example,  a single day, single park (1D1P)  ticket is $92 for an adult.  If you should decide that you want to visit both Disneyland and California Adventure (1D2P), you can upgrade your ticket at the park for  the difference which is $45 per ticket.   Caveat: You must upgrade your ticket before you leave the park.

Try maximizing your time in the park with RideMax software.  RideMax allows you to specify the attractions you wish to ride during your visit, then uses a sophisticated scheduling algorithm to order your attractions so that the amount of time you spend in line is minimized.
